Let's review the "shocking" fashion collaborations between Nike and high-end fashion brands to create trendy sports shoe creations.

Let's review the "shocking" fashion collaborations between Nike and high-end fashion brands to create trendy sports shoe creations.

With the changes and developments of the fashion industry, brands are no longer “alone” on their development journey. They choose to connect and share the brand spirit with celebrities and other fashion houses to create historic “handshakes”. From clothes to accessories, handbags and shoes, everything can become a topic for creative collaboration. For the sports shoe segment, the “giant” Nike has become a typical name for “shocking” collaborations in the fashion world. In addition to famous collaborations with streetwear brands, Nike has escaped its “safe zone” when choosing to collaborate with the world’s high-end fashion houses.

NIKE X LOUIS VUITTON

Recently, in the Spring 2022 collection, Louis Vuitton and Nike had a surprising combination that "stormed" the fashion community. Artistic Director of the French fashion house, Virgil Abloh brought the street-style Nike Air Force 1s to Louis Vuitton this year. With his talent, Virgil has "magically" transformed and given a completely new look to 21 pairs of Air Force 1s from Nike with the French fashion house's signature monogram pattern and a variety of color versions. In addition to monochrome color schemes such as white, green, lemon yellow, red, ... there are also versions with Louis Vuitton's classic Damier pattern or metallic toe box details.

Although they were “introduced” in the Spring 2022 show, whether these designs will be officially sold or not is still a mystery. As if understanding the intense desire of fashionistas, a representative from Louis Vuitton only announced: “Stay tuned for details.”

NIKE X OFF-WHITE

The collaboration with Virgil Abloh at Louis Vuitton is not the first collaboration between Nike and this famous American designer. Their relationship began in 2017, when this sports giant collaborated with high-end streetwear brand Off-White. This collaboration marked the birth of the “The Ten” collection with 10 classic Nike shoe models “dressed” in a new coat carrying the endless creative “breath” of Virgil – the “father” of the Off-White brand.

Continuing the creative fashion game this year, Off-White continues to "tease" on Instagram the next designs of this famous American sports brand. According to information from the fashion house, the upcoming collection will include 50 pairs of Nike Dunk sneakers, of which 48 pairs will have the main color scheme of white-gray with different color combinations of laces. In addition, the two sneaker designs 1:50 (with a yellow sole and metallic silver swoosh) and 50:50 (all-black and metallic silver swoosh) will be "irregular" versions compared to the rest.

NIKE X DIOR

Bringing a liberal sporty spirit together with luxurious fashion beauty, Nike has created a global craze when it "changed the look" of its Air Jordan 1 in collaboration with Dior. The shoes are designed in a minimalist style from premium leather with a gray-white color scheme, with an oblique Swoosh detail - Dior's signature mark, and a sole printed with the French fashion house's logo. First "debuted" at the Dior Pre-Fall 2020 show in Miami in December 2019, this design "fascinated" fashionistas and "horny" sneakerheads. Before appearing on Dior's runway, this design also caused a stir in the online community when rapper Travis Scott mentioned it on his personal page.

The Dior x Air Jordan has a starting price of $2,200 with a limited quantity of only 8,500 pairs worldwide. However, due to its scarcity in the market and the difficulty in ordering, this design is currently being sold for prices ranging from $13,000 - $15,000 (about more than 350 million VND) depending on the shoe style. Although the price has increased "dizzily" compared to the starting price, this pair of shoes is still being sought after by fashionistas and "sneakerheads". For them, this is a worthy investment because the fashion values that the combination between Nike and Dior brings are priceless.

NIKE X COMME DES GARÇONS

Before Dior and Louis Vuitton, Nike had a groundbreaking collaboration with fashion house Comme des Garçons. Bold, somewhat "eccentric" ideas from designer Rei Kawakubo brought a fashionable rebellion to Nike designs. During Paris Fashion Week 2018, fashionistas also admired the Nike x CDG Cortex Platform designs with a "sky-high" black and white striped sole. In 2019, Nike brought to the fashion world the Nike x CDG Shox version with a "massive" chunky sole combined with prominent metal chain accessories in a punk rock style.

However, for Spring-Summer 2021, the Japanese fashion house has toned down the usual weirdness and made room for more minimalist designs on the Air Carnivore. The collection in collaboration with Comme des Garçons includes two all-black and all-white colorways inspired by futuristic space travel. Both designs use distinctive cut-out details and velcro instead of the familiar laces.

NIKE X PEACEMINUSONE (G-DRAGON)

In 2019, the “giant” Nike collaborated with G-Dragon’s fashion brand PEACEMINUSONE and created a global “earthquake” in Asia with the Para-Noise shoe model. This is a limited edition of Air Force 1 with a daisy pattern missing a petal – one of the signature marks of G-Dragon. The collection is "hunted" by fashionistas and fans of the Korean idol in every way because this design is only produced in limited quantities with 3 different Swoosh color versions: white, red and yellow.

The gold Swoosh version with only 88 pairs numbered by G-Dragon himself will be reserved for the singer's relatives and friends. The red Swoosh version with 818 pairs will be sold to the domestic market in Korea. You will need to have a Korean household registration and phone number to be able to buy this design. Finally, the version with the white Swoosh is sold internationally for about $200. A special feature of this design is the black paint on the upper. According to information from the "shoe heads" and the brand, the black paint will peel off after a period of wearing and revealing the colorful picture hidden underneath. Depending on the use and preservation of each person, the peeling paint will also be different, creating unique shoes, no two are the same.
